Tullah Tasmania

Tullah is a small town situated on Tasmania’s rugged west coast on the northern edge of the west coast range. Tullah was originally a mining town and was only accessible by foot, horse or rail on the Emu Bay Railway until 1960. Tullah received a new breath of life in the 1970s when it was utilised as a base by workers employed to construct the Hydro Electric Power Scheme.

Visitors to the town can take a scenic ride on the 1924 steam locomotive ‘Wee Georgie’

Part of the railway is still functioning and visitors to the town can take a scenic ride around the town on the 1924 steam locomotive Wee Georgie. The Wee Georgie Wood Steam Railway departs right from the centre of Tullah and departs for a 25 minute ride.

Tullah is situated on the edge of Lake Roseberry so boating and fishing are popular activities

There are stunning landscape views of Mt Farrell and Mt Murchison and the town is located on the edge of Lake Roseberry so boating and fishing are popular tourist activities. There are also boutique shops selling handcrafted wares including wooden bowls, platters and vases carved from Huon Pine and Tasmanian Oak.

Tullah is also host to the Hydro Tasmania Tullah Challenge Triathlon held in November and forms part of the car racing circuit for Targa Tasmania held during April/May.

Step back in time and take a 20 minute ride into the heart of Tullah on the 1924 steam locomotive Wee Georgie Wood.

Walking Tracks

Tullah has a range of walking tracks in the town itself. These include the Mount Farrell/Lake Herbert Walk, Lake Rosebery Walk & Mount Murchison.
