Oatlands

With over 150 sandstone buildings Oatlands, in the heart of Tasmania’s midlands, has Australia’s largest collection of colonial sandstone buildings in a village setting. Many of the buildings were built by convict labour and Oatlands is one of Tasmania’s oldest settlements dating back to 1821.

Callington Mill is one of the jewels in Oatlands crown, dating back to 1873 and was lovingly restored to is full glory in 2010. It is the only working Lincolnshire wind driven flour mill of its type in the Southern Hemisphere.

Oatlands is situated on the edge of Lake Dulverton and is a popular fishing destination for avid anglers. You can also enjoy foreshore walks and there’s a picnic ground which is great if you’ve rented one of our self-contained motorhomes or campervans and are looking for a picturesque location to have lunch, especially if you’re driving between Launceston and Hobart.
