Cockle Creek offers some fantastic scenery and is perfect if you’re looking to get back-to-nature

If you’re planning to cruise Tasmania in one of our rental cars or a motorhome or campervan, then this is the end of the line! Cockle Creek is the most southern settlement accessible by car in Australia. It can be accessed via the Huon Highway and is about 150kms south of Hobart. The drive itself is a great way to see some lovely towns nestled in hills of the Huon Valley.

Cockle Creek is quite isolated but offers some fantastic scenery and is perfect if you’re looking to get back-to-nature. Situated on the shores of Recherche Bay and at the southeast edge of the Southwest National Park, Cockle Creek is a great place to base yourself if you’re planning a walking trip to the South East Cape where you’ll be greeted with stunning cliff-top views of the Southern Ocean and Maatsuyker Island.

Cockle Creek Tasmania Campervan & Motorhome Parks

There is a campground at Cockle Creek but it is not suitable for campervans or motorhomes. There is also no running water or drinking water available and in relation to amenities there are only toilet pits.
