Located on the Midland Highway between Launceston and Hobart, Campbell Town is a picturesque historic town. Settled in the early 1800s Campbell Town is rich in early colonial history and has some beautiful landmarks and buildings including the Red Bridge, The Grange and St Michael’s Church.

To get the best experience of the town’s colonial history, the Convict Brick Trail along High Street reveals stories of the convicts who resided in the town – the builders of many of the historic buildings including the Red Bridge and the Foxhunter’s Return. The Campbell Town Museum provides even more insight into the history of the town for the history-buff.

Campbell Town is a great place to stop for fuel, a coffee/snack or a bite to eat regardless of which direction you’re travelling in. There’s a great park with public toilets located in the heart of the town opposite the shops and there’s typically plenty of parking.

The Book Cellar

Located under the Fox Hunters Return, The Book Cellar is a one-of-a-kind bookstore not to be missed on a trip to Campbell Town. Underneath the historic hotel, holding cells for convicts have now been converted in to a rustic bookstore.
