Evandale - Tasmania

Evandale Post Office Image Courtesy: Tourism Tasmania & Rob Burnett

Located just south of Launceston and also not far from the Launceston Airport, Evandale was originally established in 1811 as a military post. It is a delightful town full of vitality and energy and if you’re touring Tasmania we recommend you stop by and take in the great cafes, market, crafts and antiques.

Evandale is full to the brim with history and is a National Trust classified Georgian village, everywhere you look you’ll see heritage buildings and homes including various churches and the Clarendon Arms hotel. Evandale is also located on the banks of the South Esk River and there’s plenty of room to pull over in a motorhome or campervan and relax by the river for a while.

Give yourself at least half a day to absorb the rich history of Evandale, grab yourself a copy of the Heritage Walk guide from the Tourist Information Centre and amble along at your own pace. Evandale is relatively flat so walking’s a great option for any age group.
