Declared a town in 1891, Huonville is located 40kms south of Hobart this scenic town sits on the banks of the beautiful Huon River with the Hartz Mountains as a stunning backdrop. Huonville is on the doorstep of the world class south-west wilderness and is famous as a major apple growing region and more recently other industries are flourishing including fish farming and cherry orchards.
Huonville is a treasure trove of nature’s bounty and fine produce, the area produces wines, ciders and stone fruits (cherries, apricots and plums) and of course the famous apples, pears and honey as well as fresh and smoked salmon.

The Apple Shed
6 kms north of Huonville includes a café, providore and museum. Home to Willy Smith’s organic apple cider. Located at 2064 Huon Highway, Grove.
The Wooden Boat Centre
Home of the school of wooden boat building, watch boats being constructed from Tasmania’s unique native timbers. Located at 3341 Huon Highway, Franklin
Take a 35-minute high-speed boat tour of the Huon River, tours leave several times per day – check the website for details. Located at The Esplanade, Huonville
Approximately 50 minutes from Huonville, walk up to 50 metres above the rainforest floor through the canopy of some of the world’s tallest trees or take ride on the Cable Eagle Glider. Located at Arve Rd, Geeveston
