Campbell Town Tasmania

Located on the Midland Highway between Launceston and Hobart, Campbell Town is a picturesque historic town. Settled in the early 1800s Campbell Town is rich in early colonial history and has some beautiful landmarks and buildings including the Red Bridge, The Grange and St Michael’s Church.
Campbell Town is a great place to stop for fuel, a coffee/snack or a bite to eat regardless of which direction you’re travelling in. There’s a great park with public toilets located in the heart of the town opposite the shops and there’s typically plenty of parking.
We highly recommend taking some time out while you’re cruising around Tasmania in your AutoRent rental to stroll the streets of Campbell Town and soak up the history of early colonial life. There’s also some great boutique shops with a range of antique and hand-crafted Tasmanian products.
Considered by the National Trust to be one of the most “substantial hotel buildings of the period” - make sure you check out The Fox Hunters Return it’s a beautiful building which is now a private residence and home to Just Tassie Books bookstore. Other buildings of note are:
- St Luke’s Church – north end of main street
- The Old Rectory – corner of Bridge & Pedder St
- Transit of Venus Sundial – main parklands (in front of The Grange)
